Day to day itinerary

Day  1  Okanagan to Baker, Oregon    *Wine & Cheese Reception

Welcome aboard our Enchanting Canyonlands Tour!  Enjoy the scenery through Washington as we travel to Baker, Oregon for our first night stay.  Stops include duty free in Osoyoos, Moses Lake & Hermiston.  Join us for a warm welcome Wine & Cheese reception this evening.

Day 2  Baker to Wendover      *Dinner Buffet

Our morning starts with the magnificent beauty of southern Idaho, traveling along the “1000 Springs” highway as we meander along the Snake River. After a delicious lunch at the German House in Mountain Home we continue our journey into Nevada, the “Silver State”.  Our afternoon stop will be in Jackpot for some gaming excitement at Cactus Pete’s as we make our way for our evening stay at the Montego Bay.  Enjoy a delectable buffet dinner.

Day 3 – Wendover to Cedar City     *Welcome Dinner

A leisurely start to the morning is how we encourage starting this glorious day filled with sites and history.  Named after the Ute Indians, the state of Utah will be forever etched into ones memory.  In Salt Lake City we tour the south visitors centre and the library, a wealth of information documenting the history of the church of the Latter Day Saints.  After lunch we continue our journey into the wonderful farming community of Scipio.  This community is enriched with history and has a hundred different places to take a picture.  Enjoy your welcome dinner this evening at Sizzlers and a restul nights stay at the Best Western in Cedar City.

Day 4 – Cedar City to Bryce Canyon & Zion Nat’l Park    *  Breakfast

Our visit to Zion will change you from the inside out.  The colors will astound you and the immensity will leave you in awe.  This 3 hour visit will be brought to life at the IMAX Theatre in the oustanding film “Zion Canyon Treasure of the Gods” then onboard the Zion Tram for a narrated Zion Canyon scenic tour with stops at the Zion Human History Museum for a 22 minute orientation film, Canyon Junction, Court of Patriachs, Zion Lodge, The Grotto, Angels Landing & the Temple of Sinawava.  Our journey along the Mt. Zion Carmel Highway and the remarkable engineering feat of the 1.1. mile long Zion Tunnel will transfer us into the desert of the Colorado Plateau and our evening in Bryce Canyon at the Historic Ruby’s Inn.

Day 5 – Bryce Canyon to Arches National Park       

The major feature of the park is Bryce Canyon which, despite its name, is not a canyon but a giant natural amphitheater created by erosion along the eastern side of the Paunsaugun Plateau.  It’s here were colorful rocks are sculptured into gargoyles and spires formed over millions of years of erosion.  We depart Bryce Canyon late morning and continue our spectacular day including an enjoyable lunch stop in Richfield.  This interesting city is precisely the halfway point between Denver and Los Angeles.  Relax and enjoy your journey as we continue to Green River an area that was popular to such outlaws as Butch Cassidy & his Wild Bunch and the Brown’s Hole Gang.  We are welcomed this evening, for our two nights stay at the Holiday Inn in Moab.

Day 6 – Arches National Park visting Canyonlands       *Breakfast

It is known for preserving over 2000 natural sandstone arches, the largest collection in the country.  The sultry red rock landscapes of Arches National Park are among the most dramatic in the country.  Flamboyant geological formations cast stunning silhouettes against brilliant skies, making this one of the most photographed national parks in the United States. After luch we enjoy a beautiful scenic drive to Canyonlands.  It’s obvious how Canlyonlands’ Island in the Sky District was named.  Canyonlands National Park includes a huge area of rugged land west and south of Moab, Utah.  It consists of canyons and plateaus carved by two mighty rivers – the Colorado and the Green.  Enjoy your evening dining and relaxing in this picturesque city.

Day 7 – Arches to Page/Lake Powell      *Breakfast & Lunch

The 300 foot standstone bluffs to the north were the inspiration for the town’s name, BLUFF!  This dominant visual element serves as a dramatic backdrop for the community.  Our lunch in Bluff, a mouth watering BBQ, will be a treat to relish for the remainder of the afternoon.  The Navajo called it “Valley of the Rocks”,  Monument Valley will be our afternoon visit stopping at the Navajo Bridge, overlooking Marble Canyon. It is like being transported to a different planet due to the eerie characteritistics of the rock formations.  Relax in the comfort of the coach as we continue our journey this afternoon to Lake Powell and our quiescent stay at the Best Western Plus in Page.

Day 8 – Page to Grand Canyon     *Breakfast

This morning enjoy a 1 1/2 hr. boat cruise of Antelope Canyon before departing Page.  Antelope Canyon is the most visited and most photographed slot canyon int he American Southwest.  We visit the historic Cameron Trading Post as we head for the Grand Canyon.  Established in 1916 the trading post has been a showplace for fine Native American and Southwest art.  History abounds at the Grand Canyon, you will be confronted with one of the most sublime tableaus of this planet.  Considered to be one of the world’s Seven Natural Wonders, the Grand Canyon will surely overwhelm you.  Enjoy a 2 night’s stay at the Best Western Squire Inn, located at the south rim entrance of the Grand Canyon.  Don’t miss out on one of the MOST beautiful sunsets you may ever experience on the East Rim. We will take you there. Enjoy your 2 night stay at the Best Western Squire Inn

Day 9 – Grand Canyon South Rim

The Grand Canyon is a steep-sides canyon carved by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona.  Enjoy the grandeur of this outstanding spectacle, your breath will be taken away.  You will be astounded by the magificent scenery.  Watch the magic of the IMAX theatre, it will bring the Canyon alive.  This 20 minute film will bewilder you.  A visual perception of the Canyon can only be appreciated if one where there. Hop on board one of the several shuttle buses while exploring the park at your leisure.  Park information centers and museums provide a wealth of information.

Day 10  Grand Canyon to Las Vegas

We leave this spectacular natural wonder to venture onto another vibrant spectacle of the man made kind…Welcome to the city that NEVER sleeps, Las Vegas!  This internationally renowned city is the entertainment capital of the world and officially became a city in 1911.  Ash Fork is a small town with a small town diner our morning stop enroute to Las Vegas.  Right in the heart of historic Route 66, our lunch stop in Kingman, one of the hidden treasures of Arizona, will include a visit to the Mojave Museum of History and Arts.  This captivating museum recounts the travels on Route 66.  Enjoy a fabulous one night stay at the Golden Nugget Las Vegas.

Day 11  – Las Vegas to Wendover   *Dinner Buffet

Relax in the comfort of the coach as we continue our journey through a series of basins (valleys).  This “Magnificent Desolation” as we like to call it, is a wonderful, beautiful and contemplative drive. The Hotel Nevada in Ely will be our lunch stop.  This 6 storey hotel built in 1929 was once the tallest hotel in the state.  Due to prohibition the hotel was not allowed to serve alcohol until 1931, when was gambling legalized as well.  Once again we enjoy a buffet dinner and a nights stay at the Montego Bay.  This part of Wendover, known as West Wendover, has a myriad of activities including historic sites, trails, outdoor recration a favorite activity of many…Gambling!  Good Luck!

Day 12  Wendover to Pendleton, Oregon

There may be some familiar sights as we return through Jackpot, we will make a brief stop at the Perrine Memorial Bridge looking over the Snake River this point has a view which is breathtakingly beautiful.  Take this final opportunity to take some memorable pictures!  Rest this evening for our final nights stay in Pendelton Oregon at the Red Lion Inn.

Day 13 – Pendelton to the Okanagan

Our last day together. Time to get those addresses and say good bye to new friends.  We hope to see you again on our next adventure!
